BBC Scotland has announced a streamlining of its news and current affairs departments.

The changes have led to the loss of one department – planning – whilst another two, Good Morning Scotland and daytime radio, have been merged.

The changes mean that two people are currently discussing their future with the BBC.

The new structure will still be headed by former Labour activist John Boothman who was handed the role weeks after the SNP achieved its historic election win last year.

The other roles are:

  • Karen Johnston – Managing Editor
  • Peter Macrae – Editor Newsgathering and Planning
  • Daniel Maxwell – Editor Newsnight and Politics
  • Huw Owen – Editor Radio
  • Tom Connor – Editor Online and Sport
  • Diarmid O’Hara – Editor Reporting Scotland and Television Bulletins
  • Marcus Ryder – Editor Investigations and Special Programmes
