US President Barrack Obama has decided not to release the photos of bin Laden as the gruesome images could create a security risk if published.
White House spokesman Jay Carney said that the “graphic nature” of the pictures could be used as a “propaganda tool” creating a national security risk.
The US President fears releasing the images could prompt a similiar response that occurred in 2003 when images of Saddam Hussein’s dead sons were published.
Obama said: “We don’t trot out this stuff as trophies. The fact of the matter is that you won’t see bin Laden walking on this earth again.”
The CIA believe pubishing the images would help quash conspiracy theories from taking place.
Osama bin Laden was said to have been shot twice, one in the head removing part of his skull and one in the body.
