David Miliband, the brother of Labour leader Ed Miliband has announced he is to step down as an MP tomorrow to take up a charity job in New York.
Mr Miliband told close friends that he had landed a “dream job”, according to the Daily Mirror.
Once tipped to replace Gordon Brown as leader of the Labour party, David Miliband lost out in a narrow shock defeat to his brother two years ago.
His resignation as an MP will mean a by-election in South Shields which Mr Miliband has represented since 2001.
