Cathcart MSP James Dornan has welcomed the announcement of an additional £80,000 of funding across Scotland from the Scottish Veterans Fund of which £5,732 will go to Glasgow’s Helping Heroes by laying down a motion in the Scottish Parliament.
Glasgow’s Helping Heroes was established in 2010 as an organisation that aims to provide information on access to and co-ordination of support across a wide range of areas including health, housing, social care, employability and financial services, for service personnel and their families and carers.
Commenting after the announcement James said;
“I am delighted that Veterans Minister Keith Brown has announced this extra provision for helping veterans across the country and more specifically welcome the announcement of funds to Glasgow’s Helping Heroes.
“Mr Brown and I recently visited Cathcart Old Parish Church in my constituency who do lots of work to support veterans and where more is planned for the future. I am absolutely thrilled that this money has been awarded to Glasgow’s Helping Heroes who are doing fantastic work across the city with veterans and their families”
