Cathcart MSP James Dornan has today welcomed news that Glasgow City Council are investigating ways of using the Strathclyde Pension Fund to boost employment in the city.
Following a Parliamentary Question asking what discussions the government have had with the council on employment issues, The Scottish Government said that positive discussions had already taken place on the viability of the idea.
Glasgow City Council are currently carrying out their own investigations in to this.
Commenting, Mr Dornan said:
“Employment is a huge issue right across the city and I’m delighted to see The Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council working together to come up with new and innovative ways to use their assets to create jobs.
“I have written to Councillor Gordon Matheson asking how this investigation is going, and if they have any initial ideas on how they might use these resources for the benefit of the people of Glasgow.”
