The First Minister has used his Christmas message to commend the work of those currently in the armed forces and mark the commemoration of the centenary of the start of the Great War.
In his message, recorded at Erskine Park Home in Bishopton, which provides care for ex-service men and women, Mr Salmond also called on the people of Scotland to reflect on the sacrifices made by previous generations of those who served for our country.
In addition, the First Minister highlighted the vital work of the emergency services, praising them for their courageous response to the Clutha Vaults tragedy.
Mr Salmond thanked those who worked so professionally and fearlessly to rescue and treat those affected in Glasgow, adding that the way in which so many people came together to offer support should be a “great source of pride” to the people of Scotland.
