It’s the place of birth of Newsnet Scotland, but the town of Greenock is set to beat Scotland in the race to independence.
A short film by a Greenock born scriptwriter sees an administrative error lead to the people of Greenock voting for the town to become independent.
The State of Greenock, is set in 2020 and has been nominated for a BAFTA Scotland award. Written by Gavin Grant, the video was shot in a day and imagines what life might be like for the townsfolk in the newly independent state.
The rivalry between Greenock and the neighbouring town of Port Glasgow features with the Greenock President boasting of his town’s nuclear arsenal, still based apparently in Faslane despite independence!
