A new poll by Ipsos-MORI gives the SNP a 22 point lead over Labour at Holyrood and a 9 point lead at Westminster.

The poll shows the SNP on 49% and 42% for Holyrood and Westminster respectively with Labour on 28% and 33% for the same.  It also shows the Lib Dems languishing on 7% and 6%.

The survey also shows 62% of respondents were satisfied with Alex Salmond’s performance as First Minister against 28% who disagreed –  a plus 34 rating, up 1 point since April.

The poll will be bad news for Willie Rennie with almost twice as many people dissatisfied with the new Scottish LibDem leader as satisfied, 17% to 32% – a minus 14 rating.

The poll was carried out between 25 and 29 August and surveyed 1002 people.  Numbers have been rounded up by the pollster.
