A big attendance is expected from the public at an employment fayre to be held in Ardrossan Civic Centre on February 4th.
Of the 50 employers joining the jobs boost initiative will be Glaxo-Smith Kline, P&O ferry line, ASDA, BT, SSE Renewables, Scottish Water, British Energy and Cal Mac.
Alongside private industry will be public sector employers, North Ayrshire Council, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue as well as Arran Health Board with many more local government representatives booked to appear.
Welcoming the event, MSP for Cunninghame North, Kenneth Gibson acknowledged that North Ayrshire has in recent years suffered from high levels of unemployment.
He said: “The Scottish Government is committed to tackling unemployment in North Ayrshire and I have invited a cross-section of representatives from public and private enterprise, alongside voluntary organisations, to highlight options and opportunities available to people young and not so young who are currently unemployed.
“I believe that together we can make a difference to the employment prospects of people in North Ayrshire.”
Angela Constance MSP, Minister for Youth Employment will be attending the event at Ardrossan Civic Centre, Glasgow Street, which will welcome the public on Monday 04 February between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Both MSPs encourage anyone who is seeking employment, training or volunteering opportunities to visit the fayre.
