American golfer Phil Mickelson is the Scottish Open Champion after winning a play-off against South Africa’s Branden Grace.
A marvellous chip on the play-off 18th hole landed within six inches and the American tapped in to take the title after Grace missed with his own putt.
The event, held at Castle Stuart in Inverness, was held during four days of fantastic weather and gives the US giant his first ever win on the European tour.
Mickelson, who received his trophy from First Minister Alex Salmond, praised the event which sets him up for the Open Championship to be held on another links course at Muirfield which commences this Thursday.
Muirfield will see the American, a favourite amongst golf fans, chase his fifth major win and his first claret jug.
