Phil Mickelson often plays well early in the season and he went close last week at the Farmers Insurance Open, only losing out by a single stroke to Bubba Watson.

My selection Charles Howell played well in snatches and finished a respectable 14th.

This week I’m selecting Kevin Na at 40/1.  The 27 year old South Korean missed the cut last week but finished in the top five the previous week and has two top-4 finishes in this event in the last three years (when it was called the FBR Open).

Excellent performances from two Scots at last week’s inaugural Bahrain Open, with Stephen Gallacher in fourth place and Richie Ramsay ending the tournament in eighth.

Paul Casey (my tip to win the previous week) came through to win from Swede Peter Hanson.  I have to stick with Seung-Yul Noh at 33/1 as my selection again this week as he played really well in Bahrain and seems to enjoy playing in the Gulf.
