Their review of the Scottish political scene is the first of a weekly series we plan to run from now until the Holyrood elections in May. Podcast host Derek Bateman will be joined by a series of pundits, commentators, politicians and bloggers as we examine the progress of the election campaign.

And, apart from Scotland, we’ll be taking a look at international affairs as well as Scottish culture as well as the week-to-week nitty-gritty of politics.

This week Angela and James discussed the opinion polls covering the Scottish scene and also attitudes to Europe, as well as the impact of the UK debate on Europe.

Our intrepid trio also discussed the emerging social media rivalry over which party deserves your “second vote” in May. Parties like the Greens and the left wing alliance RISE are chasing the so-called “list” votes, while the SNP – widely expected to win a majority of Scottish constituencies — insists that it needs both votes in order to bolster the argument for independence.
