Queen of the South’s board of directors are prepared to ‘stand aside’ for anyone who could improve the team’s finances.
The move has stemmed from the report of significant losses over the past two years. A club statement pointed to “extremely difficult trading conditions”. As a result, the only option is to reduce players budgets “significantly” for next season.
Club directors said that “in the absence of additional investors or extra sponsors” a break even position would need to be taken. The club has accepted that some criticism had “perhaps been deserved”. However, the board has urged everyone to maintain a “positive feel”.
