Scottish golfer Stephen Gallacher has won the Dubai Classic golf championship by one stroke.
The Scot shot a final round 72 to become the first player to successfully defend the title, beating Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo. His final total of 272 was 16 under par.
Congratulating Gallacher on retaining his title, Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond said:
“This is a magnificent defence of his of his title in Dubai. His recovery in the back nine shows the Gallacher family are a group of fighters and puts him as a live contender for the Ryder Cup in Gleneagles.
“He is a credit to Scottish golf.”
The Scot had bogeyed four of his first eight holes in his final round, but held his game together on the back nine to eventually emerge the winner.
