Disney Channel UK has announced that Chantel Brown aged 13 from North Lanarkshire, Scotland has been crowned winner of Shake It Up: Dance, Dance.

Viewers voted in their thousands for their favourite clip on disneychannel.co.uk/dancedance with Chantel beating stiff competition from kids across the country to have her performance unveiled on the channel.

The initiative has certainly hit the right beat with viewers, becoming Disney Channel’s most popular video contest ever.  Chantel’s dance will air during SDD Weekend, a special programming event dedicated to the smash-hit series on 12th and 13th November on Disney Channel UK.

Earlier this year, the channel teamed up with young British dance sensation, 12-year-old Akai Osei, to launch the contest. The initiative invited fans of Shake It Up who were aged 6 to 16-years-old to enter a video clip of themselves recreating some of the signature dance moves from the show.

As part of the prize, Chantel will also receive a once in a lifetime dance master class with Akai and a family holiday to LA.

Chantel from Airdrie, said: “I can’t believe that thousands of Disney Channel viewers voted me as their winner of Shake It Up: Dance, Dance.  I’m a huge fan of Shake It Up and watch the show every week. I love to dance, so to win a master class with Akai and have my winning performance air on TV is a dream come true.”

SDD ambassador, Akai Osei added: “I think Chantel’s entry is fantastic.  Her performance shows a real passion for dance and is clearly having a lot of fun, which is what Shake It Up is all about and something close to my heart.”

Boel Ferguson, General Manager, Disney Channels UK & Ireland said: “We are thrilled by the number of talented entries that we have received for Shake It Up: Dance, Dance.  Shake It Up has been a huge hit, with fans making it the second best ever live action launch on Disney Channel UK.

Its global themes of dance and music have struck a chord with viewers, giving them the opportunity to express themselves and showcase their talent whilst having fun, just like the show’s central characters, CeCe and Rocky.”

Launched in November 2010, Shake It Up is taking Disney Channel by storm.  Starring are Bella Thorne as CeCe Jones; Zendaya as Raquel “Rocky” Blue; Kenton Duty (Lost) as Gunther; Adam Irigoyen (Wizards of Waverly Place) as Deuce; and Davis Cleveland (Good Luck Charlie, Desperate Housewives) as Flynn Jones, CeCe’s precocious younger brother.
