The Scottish Socialist Party today launched its manifesto. The central theme of the manifesto is “no cuts, not now, not ever”.

The SSP, like the SNP and the Greens, favours Scottish independence but leader Colin Fox pressed home his parties socialist credentials saying: “We are the only party that has consistently, since our formation 12 years ago, had a purely socialist manifesto that challenges capitalism.”

“We are about the redistribution of wealth and power in favour of working people. All the parties are prepared to play within the limits of capitalism but we have a track record of working on the ground on community issues that affect people`s daily lives on the housing estates and we will continue to do that.

“Because we want to build a new Scotland from the street up, not from the top down.”{jcomments on}
