‘Torpedo’ find in Firth of Forth

A fishing boat reported the discovery of a suspected torpedo just after 0800 BST in the Firth of Forth.

The crew of the Sea Spray contacted the coastguard and were told to tow the device into deep water and drop it on the sea bed just off Port Seton for the Navy’s explosive ordnance disposal team.

Forth Coastguard said it was thought to be a new torpedo but stressed that there was no cause for alarm.
