Totescoop6 Handicap Hurdle and Hennessy Gold Cup

Supreme De Paille, a 13-length winner for trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies at Uttoxeter at the end of last year looks a little over-priced at 12/1.

The gelding had been off the track for 649 days prior to that performance and it was all the more impressive as it was on heavy going, which usually catches out any runners short of full fitness.

Although there are another two furlongs to cover in Saturday’s race, I think Paddy Brennan could be in for good run from the nine year old here.

Joncol won the Hennessy Gold Cup in 2010 by a neck from Cooldine and I see no reason why he can’t repeat the feat on Sunday.

Although Paul Nolan’s eight year old could only manage to finish third in the Lexus Chase over the same course on the 28th December, the trainer had probably left a bit to work on for later in the season.
