Two men have been found guilty of the murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence, 18 years after he was fatally stabbed at a south London bus stop.
Gary Dobson and David Norris were found guilty by a jury after newly discovered forensic evidence was presented at their trial, the men will be sentenced on Wednesday.
This is the second time Dobson has been tried for the same crime. A 1996 acquittal was quashed on appeal.
Mr Lawrence was stabbed near a bus stop in Eltham in 1993. The original police investigation failed to lead to a conviction and an inquiry resulted in the Metropolitan Police being branded ‘institutionally racist’.
Scientists discovered the new evidence using techniques not available to colleagues at the time of the original investigation.
