I’m just your ordinary “woman in the street”; I pay attention to politics in general and the Scottish Government in particular.
I know that I’m not the only person who has questions they would like to ask of SNP Ministers; uppermost being why do they seem to sit still and take it when Labour (I single them out as the worst offenders) opposition politicians lie, conceal, scaremonger and basically just throw any old spanner into the works to make the SNP look as though they are not doing a great job for Scotland when it is clearly not the case.
Of course none of the aforementioned could be achieved without the compliant Scottish media, who seem to take all their briefings from Lord Foulkes aka “an unnamed source”.
Why do Ministers, or any SNP Politician, not fight back?
When Labour lie or obfuscate, why do SNP Ministers not call them on it, will this change in the run up to the Holyrood Election?
I sincerely hope so; Scotland is ill-served by a Government that cannot stand up for itself, far less for Scotland.
There is not a lot that can be done about lazy journalism, and editors whose brief is to sell newspapers even if it means destroying their own reputation. In a country of over 5 million, one would fully expect that a newspaper called The Scotsman would have a circulation of close to a million………..instead they are labouring (no pun intended) to stay around the 45,000 mark.
I started reading The Scotsman when it could be called a newspaper, who could boast some of the best journalists in the business, and whose editorials had some integrity. I am saddened that this is no more.
And back to my original question; will there be a change in the way the SNP approach the election, will they leaflet every household in Scotland to let them know what HAS been done?
Will they tell the electorate that the Labour Party allowed the Tories to get into Government?
Will they tell voters the truth, BEFORE Labour get their lies out there?
Will they be much more proactive in fighting this election, starting now, and not giving Labour time to spin their lies?
And let’s start talking about independence again, those who support the SNP through good times and bad, want to hear the First Minister speak as passionately about independence as we feel about it.
