The unanswered question remains: As Labour languishes in the Scottish polls, its membership a fraction of that enjoyed today by the SNP despite the referendum result, who would want the job?

So far three people have declared for the campaign. Anas Sarwar’s confirmation that he is to resign as the party’s Scottish deputy leader means there may be a contest for that job too.
